This project was an introduction to Kerf Cutting, or cutting a piece of wood while taking into account the width of the saw blade and its teeth allowing the board to bend. Through the use of 1/8"T. MDF and a laser cutter, the base piece was designed with a slight curved to help with the bending. Due to the overall shape being curved, the resulting bend is minimal.

Additional horizontal slits were then added within each flange to decrease the stress of the MDF and to give some aid when the pieces were put in compression and tension.
